When Murphy sleeps… the girl SLEEPS

The ball of intense joy!

We bought Murphy one of those rubbers balls that freshens as she chews. I chose this design because it seemed easy for her puppy sized mouth to pick it up. She loves it and trots/prances proudly around with it.

However…. her snorting becomes noticeably louder when she plays with it because her lips and nose roll covers her only air passage. And then one day we decided to throw a milk bone in it, and was complete pandemonium that kept her busy for 30 mins or more!

We have since switched the treats to baby carrots…. she’s getting quite fat as it is and I can’t tell if its the pug build or the milkbones 😀

Stranded!

We have a few rules in the house.

  • No jumping up on people
  • Crying does not let you out of the kennel
  • No jumping up/against furniture
  • No biting no biting no biting
  • Murphy’s are not allowed upstairs unless to bath

When we first got her, she would run upstairs but wouldn’t know how to get down. After rescuing her many many many times everyday, I decided to leave her up there. She threw a little tantrum but she learned her lesson after that and now she sits and waits at the bottom of the stairs!

New sweater

3 weeks ago I purchased Murphy this sweater. Now, I have originally promised myself that I wouldn’t start buying her clothes until she was closer to full grown. But then…… I saw this tiny vest, in purple argyle. Argyle has this ability to make me weak in the knees. Plus it was only $5 so I figured if she moosed out of it, then it wouldn’t be such a devastating financial blow. Here she is, showing her SHAME

And with ANYTHING I put on her, trying to rub it off. This method applies to harnesses as well. And she has learned that if she tried it in mud, it will be taken off, a bath will follow.. along with curse words!

Eventually she gives in… but it’s not nicely. She throws out a few exaggerated sighs. She avoids ALL eye contact. Puts on her big sad puppy dog eyes and pouts until its over…. or until she falls asleep.

Is it wrong for me to want to keep putting her in things she hates when she makes such cute pouty faces? As I had guessed, she’s already moosed out of it and now I’m looking for a dog with a chest of 13″ or less to pass it on to. Little does Murphy know…. I’ve already purchased a replacement sweater! This time, white and pink argyle and it’ll fit her until she gets bigger than 18″. Once that arrives, pouting commences!

Easy like Sunday morning

As every pug owner knows, their pugs loooove to sun themselves. Our house faces south so it gets freaking hot come noon and I keep my blinds shut, but I will always open one set part way for Murphy

Here she is, praying to the sun gods for all 4 sets to open. Not gonna happen.

After a few shots, she woke up and gave me some good morning licks

I caught her tongue

and she was completely shocked and somewhat embarassed

Later on in the afternoon, H decided he was having a lazy Sunday and took a nap too. As for me, I cleaned the house like any other obeying human would.

This is Murphy.
She has uneven socks.
A soul patch.
And black elbows.

You were warned.
